    Grapefruit juice served in glasses.

Like my Fennel Juice, this is another great cold-pressed juice recipe to start your day, but it is made with whole grapefruit, lemons, and carrots and has a spicy kick from the ginger.

If you love that tangy, zingy taste like me, this cleansing grapefruit super juice is for you. And don't worry if you don't have a juicer. You can make this without one.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Only Wholesome Ingredients: No added sugar, just fresh ingredients.
    • Nutritious & Energizing: It's high in Vitamin C and a reenergizing post-workout or kick-in-my-step morning drink.
    • For Citrus Lovers: It's slightly sweet and sour with a zesty kick.

    Ingredients & Notes

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

You need the following main ingredients:

Ingredients to make tangy grapefruit juice.
    • Red Grapefruits: You want ripe, large grapefruits that are juicy. Get enough to make my Grapefruit Mocktail.
    • Lemon: High in vitamin C, lemons bring a bright, tangy flavor while adding an extra punch of health benefits like my Lemon Shots. Get enough also to make my Watermelon Lemon Ginger Juice or Honeydew Juice With Basil.
    • Carrots: Full of beta-carotene, these add natural sweetness to balance the acidity of the citrus fruits and any bitter taste of grapefruit. Buy more to make my Carrot Apple Salad.
    • Fresh Ginger: A great way to give your juice a little spice. Ginger also supports your immune system and is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Get some extra to also make my Ginger Bok Choy Noodle Soup.

    Top Tips

    • Prepare Everything First: Peel the citrus fruit, wash the carrots, and chop them before juicing.
    • Use Fresh Organic Produce: Use fresh vegetables and fruit from organic produce whenever possible to get the best grapefruit juice.
    • Best To Consume In the Morning: Drink the juice on an empty stomach for better absorption of nutrients.
    • For Best Flavor: To get the exact balance of flavors of this fresh grapefruit juice recipe, measure your ingredients (I've included the exact measurements in the recipe card).

    Variations & Substitutions

    • Different Flavors: If you're looking for a slightly different flavor, you can use pink or white grapefruit for a sweeter or more tart profile.
    • For a More Tropical Touch: Add a splash of pineapple or pomegranate juice for a sweeter touch.

    Storage

This fresh grapefruit juice can be stored in an airtight container or large mason jars with a lid in the refrigerator for 5 days.

If you want to enjoy it later, pour it into ice cube trays to freeze and use as refreshing fruit juices for future drinks.

    Recipe FAQs

Can I add any other fruits?

Yes! You can experiment with different grapefruit varieties or mix in some oranges for a grapefruit orange juice combo.

How can I make this juice more refreshing?

Serve it cold with ice cubes, or add chilled grapefruit slices as a garnish.

Can I make this grapefruit juice without a juicer?

Yes, if you don't have a slow juicer, use a high-powered blender and a nut milk bag or strainer to strain any pulp from the juice. You can see step-by-step pictures of making my Carrot Orange Ginger Juice.

Can I use it to make grapefruit cocktails?

It certainly is tangy enough to use for making cocktails or mocktails. You can add some fresh lime juice for a sour touch.

    Equipment

    • 1 Slow Juicer or electric juicer (I love Hurom)
    • 1 large mason jar or pitcher (for storing the juice)
    • 1 Juicing Strainer or Nut Milk Bag (optional, if not using a juicer)
    • 1 high-speed blender (optional, if you don’t have a juicer)
    Servings 5 cups

    Ingredients

    • 5 lemons 570 grams
    • 3 large grapefruit 1.18 kg
    • 6 carrots 490 grams
    • 1 piece of fresh ginger 0.6 ounces or 15 grams

    Instructions

    • Peel the citrus fruits, wash the carrots, and chop everything roughly into 2-inch pieces. If you see large pits, remove them.
5 lemons, 3 large grapefruit, 6 carrots, 1 piece of fresh ginger
    • Add the ingredients to your juicer and juice. When your juice container is full, close the juice chamber and transfer the juice to a large mason jar or pitcher with a lid. Place the juice container again under the juice chamber and open it to catch the remaining juice.
See note if you don't have a juicer.
    • After you have juiced all the produce and transferred the juice to your large pitcher, stir everything to distribute the flavors.
    • Serve as-is or over ice cubes.

    Notes

Storage: When stored in a closed container or pitcher, it stays fresh for up to 5 days.
Don't have a Juicer? Use a high-speed blender and nut milk bag or strainer to strain any pulp from the juice. You can see step-by-step pictures of making my Carrot Orange Ginger Juice.
    Tips:
    • Drink first thing in the morning as a cleansing juice.
    • Add collagen to enjoy as an energy drink.
    • Add it to homemade mocktails or cocktails for a refreshing touch.
